Usage rights for photographic documents

The use of any reproduction requires the prior payment of a set fee to the Musée Unterlinden. Proof of payment must be submitted immediately to the museum’s Images and Reproductions department (Service Image).

Rights to reproduce any of the works in the museum’s collections may only be assigned with the express consent of the Musée Unterlinden. Accordingly, each new use requires an additional fee payment.

For photographs held in the museum’s archives of 20th-century works not yet in the public domain, copyright expires 70 years following the calendar year of the artist’s death. For this reason, usage rights must also be paid to ADAGP (the French copyright management organisation for the visual arts) over and above the fees paid to the Musée Unterlinden.
